The Story of Bingo

This is Bingo. He is a about two years old and lives in a wonderful animal rescue home in Atenas, Costa Rica. He currently shares the home with an average of 20 other dogs of all shapes and sizes (Bingo is about 15 pounds), as well as a few cats. He's a happy guy, but he would love a home of his own. I will be going to Atenas in May, and can bring him back if we can find a home for him..

Prior to coming to the Lighthouse Animal Rescue, Bingo was a street pup. He was lying one day behind the tires of a car. Just as the car was about to back-up, a pedestrian noticed him and got the car to stop just in time to save Bingo. He has been at the Lighthouse since then.

I met Bingo last December when I went to stay at the Lighthouse. I love dogs, and they rent out affordable rooms to travelers (the place is spectacular). A perfect vacation with quiet space, beautiful mountains, and dogs. I committed to myself that I would not get a dog. Bingo, however, had other thoughts and stole my heart. When I would sit down, he would wait for the excitement of the other dogs to calm down, and he would make his way to my lap.

The last few nights, he slept in the bed with me with the exception of the very last night, when he slept in my suitcase. The last two days, he followed me everywhere. He seems to me a wonderful balance of affection and play. As I returned to the states, I made a commitment to go back and bring Bingo home.

I am now getting ready to go back in May, but am forced to face reality that having a dog right now is just not realistic. I often work long hours. My job requires a fair amount of travel, but I don't have a car. Taking a dog on the buses and trains is not allowed, and many of the places I go for work, a dog would not be feasible.

But, I would like to keep my commitment of bringing Bingo back with me, so I am looking for a home for him. I will be returning from Costa Rica on May 11 to Newark, NJ. If anyone is interested in taking a dog, and lives somewhere between NJ and DC, I would be glad to bring him to you. If you live in the DC-area, I would also be glad to do some free dog-sitting at times.

This is a wonderful little guy who will thrive where he has a yard he can explore. He loves people and gets along great with other dogs as well. What he needs is a home to call his own. Please contact me if you are interested at bradladd@aol.com.
